Introducing Truck Stop 2011

This year nearly 90 talented, excited, and eager athletes from the greater D.C./Baltimore region participated in a multiple week tryout process to earn the right to don the red, white, and blue for Truck Stop. The field has been narrowed down to the final 27 athletes who will represent the Truck. Ladies and gentlemen, Truck Stop 2011.

 

Truck Stop announces 2011 tournament schedule

Truck Stop is excited to hit the road and test itself against the best in the country as the team announces the 2011 tournament schedule. The Truck will make pit stops in Devens, MA for the Bostin Invite, beautiful Boulder, CO to defend last years Colorado Cup Championship, a return to Seattle, WA for the Emerald City Classic, and a final stop in Washington, DCs backyard for Cheseapeake Open before ramping up for the series. Truck Stop announces 2011 tryout schedule

Truck Stop is looking to build upon its 5th place finish at Club Nationals last year and have an even better season in 2011. Our goal is to be the #1 team in the Mid-Atlantic Region, and to break the upper echelons of the elite Ultimate world: to be legimate contenders at Nationals. This year tryouts will be held on the weekend of May 21-22 and will finish the weekend of June 4-5. In addition, would-be Truckers are strongly encouraged to attend “big boy” pickup on weekends beginning April 23rd.

 

Tryouts will focus on a variety of Ultimate-specific skill and fitness tests. Interested players should contact the 2011 captains Noah Eden, Keven Moldenhauer, Sean McComb and Tommy Nicholson at truckstopultimate@gmail.com with expressions of interest. Further tryout details will be announced at a later date and emailed to interested parties.

 

Truck Stop rolls to 2nd consecutive Regional Championship!
 

Truck earned the #1 seed coming out of the Mid-Atlantic region by going undefeated at regionals setting the stage for an exciting four days in Sarasota. Truck won games against F and Moose (15-5), LOS (15-4) and Southpaw (14-12) on Saturday before defeating Ring of Fire (14-12) Sunday morning to take home the regional crown. The Truck is eager to get rolling on the sweet sweet fields at Nationals. For full tournament results, click here.

Truck Stop conquers the West at Emerald City Classic

The Truck arrived in Seattle with a lot of momentum coming off a recent Colorado Cup title. The Truck did not let down collecting six more wins in a tournament that featured some of the best teams from the west coast. Click here to read tournament recap.

The Truck displayed mid-season flashes of dominance, rolling through its competition at Colorado Cup in Boulder, CO. Going undefeated, and winning its second tournament in its last four, Truck maintained stalwart D and smooth O to earn their frist ever Colorado Cup title! Click here to read tournament recap.

6.30.10 - Truck Stop battles to a 3rd place finish at Boston Invite

The Truck fired up its engine and delivered a promising performance at the first tournament of the 2010 season. Despite a tough loss in the semis to last year's runner-up, Ironside, the Truck's intensity showed flashes of what's to come for the 2010 season. Click here to read the tournament recap.

 

6.14.10 - Announcing Truck Stop 2010

This year nearly 50 talented, excited, and eager athletes from the greater D.C./Baltimore region participated in a multiple week tryout process that culminated with a two-day combine event similar to the 2009 tryout. The field has been whittled down to the final 27 individuals who will represent Truck Stop in 2010. Click here to view the roster.

 

11.1.09 - Truck Stop finishes 9th at Nationals

Despite a disappointing loss in the quarterfinals play-in game, Truck rebounded in the 9-12 bracket with two convincing wins to stake a claim to “best of the rest” en route to a top 10 finish in Sarasota. Click here to read the tournament recap.

 

10.5.09 - Truck Stop wins Regionals!

For the first time in its young history, Truck Stop dominated Regionals from start to finish, fending off Ring of Fire to stake a claim to the #1 seed in the Mid-Atlantic region. Click here to read the tournament recap.

 

9.20.09 - Truck Stop romps to 5th consecutive Sectionals Championship

Truck Stop continued to assert its Sectionals dominance, going undefeated over two days on the beautiful polo fields of Upperville, VA.  The Truck set a fearsome tone to the weekend, reeling off 45 unanswered points on Saturday before ceding a few in the final game.  Day 1: 4-0, by a combined 52-4. 9.1.09 - Truck Stop places 7th at Chesapeake Open

Returning to the polo fields of Poolesville, MD, Truck Stop competed against some of the best teams in the nation in its first elite tournament as a full team.  Hobbled by a particularly brutal wedding season, the Truck took to the field in Poolesville and set a strong tone early, handling Southern upstart El Diablo 13-8 in the opener. 7.19.09 - Truck Stop triumphs in inaugural DC Ultimate Championship

Truck Stop competed in its second tournament of 2009 this past weekend, taking on a number of area teams on the National Mall under flawless blue skies.  With white-marbled monuments providing an idyllic backdrop, the Truck rolled to convincing wins over all three opponents on day 1, beating Car Bomb, Eastern Motors, and Floodwall by a combined score of 39-10.  The Truck gave up only one point in the second half all day. 7.1.09 - Truck Stop places 4th at Boston Invite

On June 27-28, the Truck faced its first elite competition of 2009 at the Boston Invite.  Truck Stop arrived at the sprawling Devens fields with a combined 4.5 hours of unified practice time under our belts and a slate of new players.  We were seeded third in a pool featuring last year’s championship contender Ironside, New York’s PONY, and Canadian Phoenix. 6.2.09 - Truck Stop and Scandal Host Ultimate Clinic

On Wednesday, June 10th players from Truck Stop and Scandal – Washington D.C.'s elite mens and womens ultimate clubs – will host an instructional clinic for players of all skill levels. For more information, visit the WAFC Web Site.

 

5.14.09 - 2009 Tryouts begin

Truck Stop will be holding open tryouts on June 6th and 7th.  June 6th will be a full-day combine event, from 10-4 with a one-hour break for lunch.  We are expecting over 50 athletes to try out; no spots are guaranteed to returning players.  Sunday will be invite-only, from 4-7pm at Catonsville High School in Catonsville, MD (directions below).  Please be prompt. 

Players should bring plenty of water, a light and dark shirt, a good attitude, and hunger for the game.  Prospective Truckers should bring $10 on Saturday to cover field rental costs and lunch.  For more information or to register for the combine, please email the captains at truckstopultimate@gmail.com.  All players will need to submit an information form, available for download.  Please email completed forms to the above address.
